February 21, 1956 – I Have a Date with Outer Space

62 years ago today, Look Magazine featured Pete Everest. The article has some pretty interesting/rare photos, but being the large format magazine that it is, won’t fit on the scanner. I will have to get creative and share some better shots in the near future.

On the flip side, the Library of Congress today owns […]

Pete Everest – Part 2

Another slick model from Thomas!

Pete Everest made the first, third and sixth (and last) USAF flight on 23 12 1953, 02 07 1954 and 29 07 1954 on that plane. Then the underpowered jet went to NACA. Pete was used to hotter stuff!

“Flight to the Future” was just posted to YouTube from the San Diego Air & Space Museum archives. 21 minutes of vintage X-2. Thanks to Chris for letting me know about this!

Searching for Life Magazine X-2 Photos

A few years back, Google began scanning the collection of Life Magazine images and posting them online. As long as the photos are not used for commercial use, download and print is free game. While I have not tried, rumor has it the images are such that you can print to 8×10 (but with a […]

Pete Everest Featured in Friends of the RAF Newsletter

The Society of Friends of the Royal Air Force Museum just sent out their Spring issue of The Flying M newsletter and Roy was kind enough to send me a copy. This particular issue offers an article on Pete Everest and the X-2.

New Book: De snelste mens ter wereld

Web site friend & contributor Bart Vandamme just emailed me the other day about a new book he has written. Here’s a quick overview! The book is currently written in Dutch and is waiting for a translation in English…

My book ‘de snelste mens ter wereld’ chronicles the life and achievements of 21 pilots ranging […]

New Life Magazine X-2 Pics

It looks like Life magazine continues to scan their collection of photos. I just completed a search for X-2 and ran into some new pictures, many also from their Air Age story. In addition to the X-2, it looks like new photos of Pete Everest, Iven Kincheloe, Fitz Fulton, program members & more are appearing.
