Mystery X-2 Model

I recently received an email from Dennis S. asking if I would know anything about a rather large X-2 model he owns. I've never seen anything like it, but I'm hoping one of you may have.  Some additional information:

I am trying to research a model of the X-2 that was given to me by a retired electrical engineer that worked Edwards in the 50's. He told me that it is a wind tunnel model, but I have my doubts. He rescued it and a couple others from being destroyed...

Dimensions
  • Span 32"
  • Overall length (pitot tube to end of rocket motor exhaust) 42"
  • Horizontal stab span 12"
  • Height 10.5"

...FYI, it has a handmade pilot, assessable after canopy is removed. He was carved or formed from a modeling media, perhaps clay. The helmet is a typical 50's fighter pilot helmet w/a dark green visor. The helmet itself is made out of brass as can be seen thru areas of chipped paint...

If you know what this model may have been used for, of have any other information, please drop me an email.
